My dudes, sit back, relax, and prepare to have your third eye opened. James offers up some extremely enticing and valid ideas on life and illustrates how they all stem from a life of surf. You'll be ready to ditch capitalistic demands and drop in on a more stoked way of life. Perfect for any surfer with an inquisitive mind.
Kazan writes with such great clarity and detail, His imagery captivates me, and I can easily envision the paintings he so passionately describes. This is a story about a poor, rowdy, orphaned Florentine boy who uses his “gift from God” as a means of survival. Both in terms of physical sustenance & spiritual fulfillment. His temptation towards a life of “sin,” opposite of his friar life, plays into his work & shape his soul. He is a genius, a miracle, & full of complexity. Awesome historical references!
Probably my favorite book of all time. A detailed account of real-life artist Artemiia Gentilleschi. A woman of strength, courage, and enviable artisitic abillty, she defies the odds to become a well-respected painter.
This isn't your typical, cheesy, "you can do it!" kind of book. I actually carried this in my bag for a year straight & would write quotes from the book on the palm of my hand. Paulo Coehlo loves this book, so you should too.
