Robin Kardon

Local debut novelist Robin Kardon will be at The Book Catapult on Friday, February 22 at 7:30pm to discuss and sign her novel, Flygirl

Former airline captain R. D. Kardon fictionalized her own experiences as a trailblazing corporate pilot integrating an all-male international corporate aviation department in the 1990s. Flygirl follows protagonist Tris Miles on her journey to advance in her chosen career. Motivated by ambition and guilt over a haunting loss, Tris enters an environment filled with deceit, harassment, and hidden agendas as she tries to earn her Captain’s stripes. Readers are strapped in right next to Tris in the cockpit as she faces unimaginable challenges at high altitudes all over the world.

"In R.D. Kardon’s debut novel she has created an inspirational character in Tris Miles. Flygirl is vivid, energetic, and fast-paced. It is a story about striving to reach for your goals despite astronomical odds." - Jill G. Hall, author of The Black Velvet Coat and The Silver Shoes

R. D. Kardon had a career as a litigation attorney before learning to fly. It took her almost three years to earn her Airline Transport Pilot certificate and first of three type-ratings. Her twelve-year flying career took her to every state in the US and all over the world. From tiny single-engine Cessnas to the Boeing 737, the aircrafts Kardon has qualified in are as diverse as her professional experiences.
