The next meeting of The Catapult Book Club will come to order on the evening of Thursday, September 13th at 7pm. We will be discussing the August 2018 selection, In the Distance by Hernan Diaz.
Club selections will be paperback fiction and relatively current. Each selection will be offered at a 20% discount for the month leading up to the meeting - In the Distance will be 20% off both in-store and online from now until September 13.
Hernan Diaz's debut novel was published by indie publisher Coffee House Press last Fall when it was selected from an open manuscript submission. It then went on to be a finalist for the 2018 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction as well as a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize. A tall tale of a young Swedish immigrant making his way East against the tide of westward expansion in pre-Civil War America. The Pulitzer committee called it a "gorgeously written novel" about a journey not just across the country but between "the extremes of the human condition." And the NY Times called it "Strange and transporting... an uncanny achievement, an original western."
So please join us on September 13th for another lively discussion!
