Description

Iván was captured as a baby and taken to the United States to be a shopping-mall attraction. As the years passed, the customers’ curiosity turned to pity and indignation over the gorilla’s situation. People pushed until a better life was found for the friendly creature. From the Congo to the US, from a local attraction to a national symbol for animal welfare, Iván the shopping-mall gorilla traveled a great distance—both literally and in the impact he had on others. This is his story.
