Description

Leaves in the Water combines nature poems and photography. The photographs illustrate each poem. The dominant poetic themes are life, love, death, rebirth, and nature's beauty. The author is an ardent observer of the natural world and shares what he has seen through photos and what he has learned from such observations through the poems. An old tree, a roadside shrine, or a fisherman may not in themselves hold sufficient interest for the casual observer but the conclusions derived from such observations are insightful and sometimes stunning. This is a volume the reader may want to revisit if not for the poems then for the photos and, even better, for both.

About the Author

Isaac O'Keeffe was born in the Caribbean and emigrated to the United States as a young man. He is married and lives with his wife and son in San Diego, California. When not working as an educator, he enjoys photography, poetry and doing mind clearing hikes. His latest novel, Pariag Alley, was published earlier this year. Leaves in the Water consists of 85 poems, each illustrated by a photo. O'Keeffe is an avid hiker and traveler and finds great inspiration in the bays, mountains, and rural backwaters of Southern California, Baja California, and Ireland.
