About the Author

R. R. Knudson (1932–2008) wrote stories about girls and women in sports. She is best known for her series of Zan novels, Zanballer (Delacorte, 1972), Zanbanger (Harper, 1977), Zanboomer (Harper, 1978), and Zan Hagen’s Marathon (Farrar Straus & Giroux 1984).

Ted Lewin grew up in Buffalo, New York. He is the author/illustrator of over 100 books for children. In 1994, he was awarded a Caldecott Honor for his picture book Peppe the Lamplighter.
